Our Process: Collaborate | Build | Enjoy

Step 1

The First Step

For most people, their patio is an extension of their home. It's a place to relax, hang out, or entertain. We are well known for listening to your ideas and turning them into that perfect outdoor living area. Once you decide you want a patio, there are many things to consider. Being prepared and knowing what you want will make the process smoother and quicker. Here are some of the questions we ask when we sit down with you:

• What will you be using your new patio for?
• Approximately how big do you want your patio to be?
• What additional features are you looking for?
• What is your budget?
• What is your timeline for completing the project?

Step 2

The Appointment Process

On our first appointment, our intent is to understand what you want, and paint a picture of how we can create it. To do this, we will provide explanations of any work to be performed, so that you fully understand what to expect. We will provide a ball park figure to everything we discuss, to ensure there no surprises. We will obtain measurements of the area, and take notes of our conversation.

Over the next few days, our designers will transmit the notes and sketches to a scaled drawing of the area. Depending on the project, 3D software may be used to help depict our plan and show you what your project could look like. Proposals are put together by line item so you understand the cost of each feature. A second appointment is scheduled, where the design and proposal is provided and explained in detail. Finally, upon your decision, our contract is thoroughly presented and your project is scheduled.

Step 3

The Build Process

The day we break ground, the Crew Foreman, Operations Manager, and Designer meet on site to discuss the project in detail. Every aspect of the job is gone over to ensure everyone is on the same page. Excavation and construction begin. Throughout the build process, we welcome questions and feedback, and if necessary, changes. Typically, steps and walls are constructed first, followed by the patio, accent bands, and soldier course. Once the hardscaping is completed, detail work and additional features are added, including grills, lighting, landscaping, and turf repair. We exceed the standards of the ICPI when constructing patios and retaining walls, and leave no detail unnoticed. During the entire build process, the designer and operations manager are checking in on the project, and coordinating materials, deliveries, and equipment. The final walkthrough is normally completed with the owner, who ensures you're satisfied with the work.

Step 4

The Final Step

Enjoy your new Patio or Landscape! Don't be surprised to have your neighbors, friends, and family start visiting more frequent. Columbus Hardscapes does very little marketing, in fact, over 60% of our business last year came from referrals, so please don't be afraid to share our information. We even provide referral credits for future maintenance work.
